Log Cabin Weaving Pattern FREE DOWNLOAD
This pattern uses a simple color and weave affect, which gives the appearance of a pattern while only using plain weave. I’ve found this is a fun pattern to do with my hand-painted warps, which gives a fun twist to the color effect.
For the scarf in the picture, I used:
-
Mardi Gras 5/2 Tencel™ Hand-Painted Warp
- 6 yard warps are long enough for 2 scarves
- 3 yard warps are long enough for 1 scarf
- You will only need 90 ends for the scarf in the pattern.
-
Midnight 5/2 Tencel™ Solid 4 oz. Skein
- For a 6 yard warp, you will need 2 skeins
- For a 3 yard warp, you will need 1 skein
-
Sea Breeze 5/2 Tencel™ Solid 4 oz. Skein
- 1 skein is enough for either a 3 or 6 yard warp
- NOTE: Sometimes these colors are not in-stock. They can be purchased as dyed-to-order yarn the first week of every month. I hand-dye everything, let me dye yarn just for you!
It’s important to use high contrasting colors to achieve the best optical pattern. I typically pair one of my painted warps with black in the warp. For the weft, I like to use a light-color hand-dyed skein to alternate with the black.
