Turned Taqueté FREE Weaving Pattern

Turned Taqueté FREE Weaving Pattern

At long last, I'm sharing a pattern I've been meaning to finish and post for a long time.

Turned Taqueté is a warp-faced weave, woven with just one shuttle. I had this particular pattern set up on one of my looms for almost a year, trying out different color combinations and block sizes. It's a great way to show off a beautiful hand-painted warp. With just 4 harnesses and an easy treadle sequence, this is a fun pattern to weave!

I haven't written patterns professionally, so hopefully this draft makes sense. I tried to make it as visually easy to comprehend as possible, so that you can make adjustments to suit your own taste.

For instance, I love a wide scarf, something shawl-like I can wrap around myself like a big drapey hug. If you like something a bit narrower, just remove a couple of color blocks, or rearrange color blocks to make it the width you prefer. You could also reduce the thread repeats in each block, so the squares/stripes are smaller.

This pattern is written for 5/2 Tencel™ yarn, sett at 16 epi. If you want 8/2 Tencel™, change the sett to 20 epi. Your scarf will be narrower if you use the same number of ends. If you wish, you can adjust the number of repeats in the blocks to make it the width you prefer.

Some of the examples include yarn that I may not have in stock currently. Good news! At the beginning of every month, I open up my Dye-To-Order yarn. I can dye or paint any of the colors shown for you at that time.
