Immersion Dyeing with Leftover Paints

Immersion Dyeing with Leftover Paints

Get a sneak peak at the immersion dye recipe I use in my studio (originally recorded on Facebook Live)!

I often have leftover paints or dyes that are either getting too old to be reliable or I'm just done using. Instead of throwing them out, I try to use them in other ways. One way I use them up is in an immersion bath on extra skeins of yarn.

In my shop I call these "Cocktail Colors," or a cocktail of whatever is left from painting a particular colorway. It comes out differently every time, depending on what I have left over and how many skeins I dye.

Here I share how I make my Unicorn Cocktail color, from leftover Unicorn colorway paints, on four previously scoured skeins of 5/2 Tencel™.
